Textile is very old in Bangladesh. Matching with climate of this region, mainly cotton base mid weight & light weigh fabrics are made here using the locally cultivated Karpas cotton which fibers are very very thinner & finer. Since hundreds of years ago using the finest yarn like 80ne, 100ne, 120ne, even 242ne, 332ne count yarns were producing ultralight weight fabrics Muslin & Jamdani which looks almost see through & transparent.

Early-stage textile work was fully traditional & with hand works. Spinning, winding, sizing, drawing, weaving, dyeing and embellishment everything was done manually in cottages and usually females did that. Over the centuries technology has changed, cottage industries became large textile mills with jet looms & high presser dyeing and producing qualitative wide range huge quantity fabrics for home users & apparel industries and exporting to worldwide.
